Carl Gunhouse

Carl Gunhouse was born in 1976 in Boston, Massachusetts, but he spent his formative years in suburban New Jersey. Growing up, he developed a love/hate relationship with suburbia that led to the angst familiar to most suburban youth. With this unrest came the discovery of the anger and DIY ethics of hardcore punk rock. Yearning to be part of the hardcore scene, he started photographing bands, which began his love of photography.

SALFORD ZINE LIBRARY NOW FILMING!!!

I am out an about this and next week with the help of Luca Rudlin and his camera expertise interviewing for the Salford Zine Library film. If you live in the north west, self publish/make zines and want to participate then please get in contact. If you live further afield then you can still participate by sending a short talking head video of your self explaining why you choose to self publish and what you self publish.

Videos have been coming in from across the world and I thank all those who have contributed so far. One consideration when making the videos is sound.Your voice needs to come across clearly as possible and not too low in the mix or obscured by back ground noise. Picture is second to sound and if you have a mic then it's worth pluging it in to your computer and using it rather than an inbuilt mic. Camera wise anything will do from a webcam to an SLR. What you have to say is the most important part of this project.

Once again thank you for your help without it there would be no project.

Laura Braun

Laura Braun is a photographer based in London.

Trip
London to Lisbon and back, November 2007 – June 2008.
Laura Braun, 2011
Digitally printed concertina book, hand finished in handmade, screen printed box, 11x9 cm, limited edition of 100, signed and numbered.
Many photographs have been taken on road trips, pictures of the towns and landscapes passed through without the pretence of a deeper analysis of them; images that tell not so much of the places visited as of the experience of being on the road. ’Trip’ is a collection of impressions of a journey, taken on Polaroid.

Knots
Edited by Melissa Castro Duarte and Laura Braun, 2004
Offset printed, A4 pamphlet / A1 poster, perforated
KNOTS was as a platform for the work of artists based around the world. A chain project, - pieces of thread joined by knots – the images are linked to each other by association, each one a trigger for the next, for a memory perhaps or an idea.
The first artist produced a work inspired by a found image. His work then travelled to the next artist to be in turn used as a point of departure for his work. This process was then repeated over and over.

Salford Zine Library Film.

Hello Self Publishers of the world,
as you may or not know the library has an exhibition at Salford Museum and Art Gallery running from 15th October 2011 to 29th January 2012.

I am looking to show a film at the exhibition made up of short videos that contributers to the library have made of themselves. The video will explain why you personally self publish and talk about the zines you produce.

To submit please email me your short talking head videos no longer than five minutes to salfordzinelibrary@googlemail.com. If you live in the north-west(U.K) we can arrange to come and film you.

I will compile and edit these together and add captions for the finished film. All are welcome to contribute to this project and I would like an eclectic range of zine makers to participate covering all the genres etc. So wherever you are making your zines it would be great to hear from you.

Any further questions just email me.

Thanks

Craig
