New in: Turbulence Magazine issue 14

Turbulence is a printed poetry magazine established in 2009 seeking to publish the best poetry it can find. It started out in Hull, East Yorkshire, a city described by Peter Porter as "the most poetic city in England" and is now based in Oxford.

Issue 14 features poetry from David Andrew, Aaron Anstett, David Bellusci, Byron Beynon, Ken Champion, Joe Eldridge, Chris Fenton, Andy Fletcher, Kathy Halliday, Scott Hartwich, Anne Higgins, Maria C.G. Guy Mayman makes collage, sculpture and drawing which explores the intersection of culture, commerce, government and desire. He has completed a two year residency at de Ateliers in Amsterdam and a two year Daiwa scholarship in Tokyo, where he continues to visit and work regularly. He produces a zine called Pataville, which uses montage to explore the idea of cultural false memory, architectural utopia and suburban psychosis.

The Antagonist Art Movement are based in New York and have been putting out Psycho.Moto Zine, under the original title East Coast Exchange, since 1988. The subject is underground arts where they mix writers from all over the place. Each issue is based on a theme.

The Antagonist Art Movement is a cultural movement formed in New York. The group grew out of desperation and in reaction to the New York art market. The movement primarily involves visual arts, literature, film, art manifestos and graphic design. Psycho.Moto Zine acts as a venue for the movement's writers, artists and editors.

Hello,

I am very excited to be able to announce that myself (Steve Carlton) and Elizabeth Murray Jones are going to be taking over the running of Salford Zine Library. I am an actual qualified librarian and we both make zines under the name 'Young Explorer', so we reckon that we're well placed to continue Craig's excellent work and make the library an inspiring place to visit for as many people as possible.

We have loads of things we want to do but we're also keen to get the whole community involved. If you have any ideas or suggestions for improving the library, please get in touch. We're currently drawing up plans for exciting new stuff, so watch this space! In the mean time, if you have any zines that you would like to submit to the library, please note the change of address. There's no selection criteria - we accept anything as long as it is self published.

Carl Gunhouse

Carl Gunhouse was born in 1976 in Boston, Massachusetts, but he spent his formative years in suburban New Jersey. Growing up, he developed a love/hate relationship with suburbia that led to the angst familiar to most suburban youth. With this unrest came the discovery of the anger and DIY ethics of hardcore punk rock. Yearning to be part of the hardcore scene, he started photographing bands, which began his love of photography.

Katy Matich is a Philadelphia printmaker, bookmaker and draftsman who is equally passionate about visual artwork and historical conservation. Katy received her BFA degree in drawing and painting from Minnesota State University Moorhead in 2008; and later completed her MFA degree at The University of the Arts in 2010 emphasizing in Book Arts and Printmaking. Upon graduating, she spent an 8-week post-graduate internship with the American Philosophical Society (APS) of Philadelphia. During her time at APS, Katy participated in a documentation and preservation project with the Oversize Rare Book archives.

Yuck 'n Yum

Yuck 'n Yum is a not-for-profit curatorial collective that produces a quarterly art zine and hosts events that promote and distribute art outside the gallery setting.

Yuck 'n Yum was founded in 2005 by Andrew Maclean, who self-published and distributed YnY whenever he could. In 2008 he enlisted Gayle Meikle and Ben Robinson to aid him in the production of the zine and develop YnY as a distribution mechanism for artists. Since then, YnY has produced 20 issues (including two special editions) and hosted many events to promote artists, including Yuck 'n Yum's Art Distribution Unit, Turn Your Bluetooth On and the AGK.

Made in Arnhem

The Office of Mark Simmonds Newsletter started in Arnhem in March 2011. Each newsletter contains a single article which is typed directly onto an A4 sheet using an AEG Olympia Traveller De Luxe typewriter at the office. The original is then photocopied, folded and posted via snail mail to national and international subscribers. If away from the office, for example abroad, the newsletter is handwritten. Initially a fortnightly bulletin, as of January 2012 it is posted monthly. In July 2012, the then total of 25 newsletters were compiled for the first time to commemorate the office's imminent relocation from Arnhem to a then unknown destination.

Giorgio di Palma was born in Grottaglie, Taranto, Italy in the 1981. He has no experience to boast about art institutes and academies and studied Archaeology. His first job had nothing to do with the world of art, he worked as computer technician in Budapest. Giorgio loved painting his dog Lucky next to characters of his imagination. But one day, in the 2009, He is now working with ceramic, like his father and other people in Grottaglie do. He always avoids giving his objects a real function. In an age of waste and excess, He wants to create unusable handmade products.
