Through his explorations of language Sam Winston creates sculpture, drawings and books that question our understanding of words, both as a carriers of messages and as information itself.
Knick Knack Issue 1 was compiled by Andrew Beswick between January and March 2010. It contains poetry by Emily McPhillips, Rebecca Willmott, Nick Ainsworth, Martin Taylor, John Ammirati, R L Perry, Laetita Glenton, Nick Mitchell, Miriam Avery, Michael Wilson, Laura Skilbeck, Richard Barrett and Andrew Beswick.
His work combines illustration and typography to create images that have humour, energy and optimism. Despite often being created digitally his graphics have the tactile feel of the hand made and hand printed. His time is split between commercial work and self initiated projects such as silkscreen printed books and posters that are available from his website and have been exhibited in the UK, France, USA, Italy, Japan and Australia.
